Training courses in Dubai

We are proud to announce that we are going to work for a new customer: Dubai Air Wing. The first two training courses will start in October this year and will be Technical English Training and EWIS Training (about electrical wiring). These first two training courses will last untill October 15 and will be given in Dubai. This new contract comes from our new close partnership with the Academy of Technical Training in Dubai.

On April 30 a group of six students from the Royal Australian Air Force started their maintenance training at the Chinook in our newly opened Rotary Wing Training Center. The training will be provided by a Boeing instructor and will be finished on June 30.

For the Logistics Centre Woensdrecht (LCW) our instructor Bob van Asselt started Human Factors training in a day. On April 27 the first training has taken place, the following will take place on May 10, 24 and 31. Human Factors is about the awareness of our human actions when it comes to safety. In total, we train four groups, each of about 14 LCW professionals.

We are proud to announce that we will train a total of 132 Fokker ELMO professionals in various fields in May and June this year: Human Factors (provided by Bob van Asselt), Safety Health & Environment (provided by Johan Koevoets) Continued Airworthiness (provided by Dave de Zwart) and Installation in Aircraft (operated by Frans Suykerbuyk). In addition, we are currently installing two classrooms for production training and Simplified Technical English (STE). Fokker Elmo will provide these lessons themselves later in the year.

Our well experienced instructor Gerard Ypma started EWIS training (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System) for professionals for our partner Fokker Aircraft Services (FAS). EWIS is about electrical wiring in an aircraft. The training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May the first, untill May 31. In total we train 115 FAS professionals.

The European helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter has shown interest to locate their maintenance training in our Rotary Wing Training Center (RWTC) in Gilze en Rijen. This center has been opened on Wednesday, April 25 by the Dutch Minister of Defense: Hillen. Eurocopter is following the example of Boeing, who relocated it global Chinook maintenance training to the care of the RWTC since a few days. A team of maintenance technicians of the Royal Netherlands Air Force therefore had the scoop: they followed the first Chinook training on "hydraulic systems" at the RWTC. The world's largest together in one building Eurocopter and Boeing are the world's largest manufacturers of military and civilian helicopters. At a meeting which both companies attended together with the Royal Netherlands Air Force, it was decided to develop a business case to offer the courses of Eurocopter and Boeing in one building: the RWTC. In the RWTC, our company works together with Gate2: the aviation cluster of the Midpoint Aerospace & Maintenance. One stop shop for Royal Dutch Air Force The combination of both companies results in a complete training center for all military helicopters of the Royal Netherlands Air Force: the Chinook and Apache manufactered by Boeing and the NH 90 and the Cougar, manufactured by Eurocopter. Upcoming April 25th the new training center of the World Class Aviation Academy (WCAA) and the Boeing Company in Gilze Rijen will be opened by minister Hillen (Defence). Two days ago, on Monday April 16, the first students of the Royal Dutch Air Force started their training on the hydraulic systems of the Chinook. The center is located on the aviation cluster Gate2. The opening means a huge boost for more developments in aerospace at Gate2. Boeing has relocated its global maintenance training program to Gilze en Rijen to allow international Chinook mechanics and technicians the opportunity to train closer to home: providing quality training at an affordable price. Start Royal Dutch Air Force The Royal Dutch Air Force has already a partnership with Boeing so they could start right away in the new training center in Gilze Rijen, just across the street of the Air Force Base Gilze Rijen. The training of the Dutch will take two weeks and is followed by students of the Australian Air Force. .

Our collaboration with the Chilean Air Force has extended. Coming April, three of our instructors will go to Chile to train F-16 maintenance technicians for a period of three months. This contract is the result of a prior collaboration focused on F-16 maintenance. In 2010 we have trained 75 members of the Chilean Air Force in our premises in Hoogerheide for three months. Later on in 2012 and again in 2013, our instructors will go again to Chile for several months.

A CH-47 helicopter adapted to serve as a maintenance training device is relocated to Mid-Brabant, to our second training center in Rijen, The Netherlands. The Boeing equipment will be used in an international maintenance training program offered at our Rotary Wing Training Center (RWTC). The program will help address the maintenance training needs of international operators of the multi-mission, heavy-lift helicopter, the tandem rotor Chinook. From Monday November 28 until Thursday December 1, Peter Huis in 't Veld and Moniek Schoofs attented the I/ITSEC convention in sunny Orlando, Florida. The I/ITSEC is the most important international training and simulation exhibition which focuses on defense organizations around the world. Along with four other Dutch companies (TNO, NLR, Dutchspace and Re-lion) we were part of the Holland Pavilion. We met various parties in our booth. In addition, we also had conversations with other companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin and CAE. On Tuesday night we organized a well-attended hospitality night in the Holland Pavilion. Please read further for an example of a custom made training package consisting of modules of the Basic Training for Fokker Aircraft Services. Because of the nature, extent and complexity of maintenance of modern aircraft systems by B1 mechanics, Fokker Aircraft Services expressed the desire to retrain their B1-staff. We offered a customized solution, a training package consisting of different topics from the Basic Training, modules 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11. These modules contain many topics in electrical engineering and electronics. Mainly these topics have changed in recent years. With this additional training, the B1-technicians aligned in terms of knowledge and skills with students in the current EASA Part-66 training. The Boeing Company has signed a teaming agreement with the Rotary Wing Training Center (RWTC) – a subsidiary of the Netherland's World Class Aviation Academy (WCAA) – to establish a state-of-the-art CH-47 Chinook helicopter maintenance training facility near the Dutch Gilze-Rijen Airbase. The training center will help address the needs of international Chinook operators. "Our cooperation with the WCAA and the RWTC reflects Boeing's commitment to international Chinook customers and re-emphasizes our dedication to provide quality training at an affordable price," said Barbara Wilson, Boeing director of Army, Navy and Marine Corps training. "This facility will allow international Chinook mechanics and technicians the opportunity to train closer to home." Training will start in January 2012 The training – set to begin in the first quarter of 2012 – will include current technical information and courseware tailored for CH-47 mechanics, technicians, pilots and crewmembers. The program will cover theory, troubleshooting and fault isolation, as well as maintenance and servicing. For our Netherlands Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO), we provided a training consisting of Module 12 of the Basic Training aircraft maintenance, which lasted a week. The goal was to train B1.1 engineers (fixed-wing aircraft maintenance mechanics) additional as B1.3 engineers, who are able to work on helicopters. The training emphasized subjects as helicopter aerodynamics, structures and systems. Our new instructor Jaap van Keulen and Arnold Mercx successfully provided the lessons. As part of the training, an exam takes place on September 29. After obtaining this module the mechanics are qualified to sign for their maintenance work.

We are proud to announce that we will provide a new training Root Cause Analysis for Fokker Elmo on October 26th and 27th. The training is developed for employees of a subsidiary of Fokker Elmo in China. Root Cause Analysis training is designed to reduce of avoid errors in internal (production) processes, especially the mistakes that are identified by Fokker Elmo employees themselves. Our instructors teach methods designed to identify errors. If, however, mistakes occur, errors can be better managed, so that their impact is reduced.

Through financial support from the World Class Aviation Academy the first nature project of Aviolanda Woensdrecht (a sustainable area development in the south of Holland) is launched. The area development offers opportunities for people, businesses and nature. On these three issues there are calendars with different projects. We find it very important that the three topics are carried out in balance and therefore we have decided to invest in the first nature project. The actual implementation of the nature project will take place in the autumn this year.

On July 22th, we will provide an extra training session for Fokker Elmo: Safety Precautions. 12 employees of the second largest aviation cable company in the world take part in this training session. The main topics covered are security measures which must be taken when working with electricity, gas, oil and chemicals. The session also focuses on safety books, danger signs, symbols and markings, fire types and Foreign Object Damage (FOD: damage to an aircraft by foreign objects).

Fokker Aircraft Services (FAS) has requested us to train 48 B1 mechanics as of June 22. The training consists mainly of a selection of electrical and electronics topics (modules 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11) from the current B1 Basic Training and some additional topics. Given the nature of the FAS-specific topics, we tailored the modules for FAS. The lessons are given by our instructors Gerard Ypma and Nol Merkx and take place daily between 08:30 and 02.30 p.m.
